Very Beginner Yoga Series with Max Leeming
Sundays 12:30-1:30pm
Winter Session: January 17-February 7, 2010
Spring Session: April 11-May 2, 2010
Satya Yoga Center, Rhinebeck
Fee: $65 for the series, or $20 per class

If you've never done yoga before, or are interested in exploring basic alignment, this series is for you. We step into the body to enter the vast potential of the heart. We systematically go over the Universal Principles of Alignment. Each class will build on the previous as we open and strengthen the body and deepen our relationship to our hearts.

Margaret (Max) Adams Leeming re-discovered yoga in Santa Barbara, California in 1995, during her graduate studies, twenty years after watching her mother perform strange movements (which turned out to be yoga) when she was four. She fell in love with Iyengar yoga in Albuquerque while healing from a car accident in 1998. Max continued her Iyengar studies and took classes and workshops with Nancy Roberts and Felicity Green for three years in Santa Barbara. She has also studied Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga in Tacoma, Washington. Her move to New York brought her to Moksha and classes with Alex Auder and Lauren Zittle. She completed a teacher training certification course in Vinyasa yoga based on the principles of Anusara at Satya Yoga Center with Co-directors Jessie Lee Montague and Sondra Loring. She continues to take classes at Satya and in New York City. Max lives with her six-year old daughter in Poughkeepsie and teaches yoga and the history of religions at Vassar College. Max sees yoga as an ever-continuing, mindfully meandering journey that heals and nourishes both body and soul.
